Forged Steel Backup Rolls

Applications: plate mills, hot-strip mills, cold-rolling mills

Description: Backup rolls weighing 7-230 tones made of alloy-forged steel with Cr content of 1,40-5,50% have an excellent combination of metallurgical and physical properties such as a compact porosity-free microstructure; good ductility and toughness values; high resistance to fatigue, wear and thermal cracking. High physical and metallurgical properties are to be achieved throughout the optimal combination of pure steel, forging ratio and heat treatment processing. In the Customer’s request, the Backup Rolls can be equipped with inner bearing races of SKF, TIMKEN, FAG, NSK etc.

Forged Steel Work and Intermediary Rolls for Cold-rolling Mills

Applications: reversing and non-reversing, single and multiple stand, 4Hi and 6Hi, ferrous and non-ferrous cold-rolling mills

Description: Work and intermediate rolls for cold rolling made of alloy-forged steel with Cr content of 2,20-5,50% have an excellent combination of metallurgical and physical properties allowing to reach 25-40 mm depth of the working layer with uniform and stable hardness ensuring the highest quality of cold-rolled strip and efficient performance characteristics (resistance to wear, thermal shocks, fatigue contact cracks).

Forged Steel Work Rolls for Long-product Hot-rolling Mills

Applications: medium-grade, large-section, rail and structural Rolling Mills

Description: Work rolls used in roughing stands of long-product hot-rolling mills produced under innovative technology represented by use of the special steel grades developed especially for manufacturing of hot rolling mill rolls, which have increased resistance to heat and impact, as well as by forming of the roll profile at the forging stage and subsequent hardening of the roll with a profile as close as possible to the drawing. The special steels resistant to thermal effects are characterized by high level strength and plastic properties of the roll body and necks as well as by higher wear resistance that guarantees better operating characteristics.

Indefinite Chilled Double Pured (ICDP) Rolls

Application: plate mill, finishing stand of hot strip mill, steckel mill

Description: These rolls are spun cast with a highly alloyed shell consisting of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium. The core can be grey iron with flake graphite, iron or spheroidal graphite iron depending on the mill requirement of neck strength.

High Chromium Cast Iron (HiCr) Rolls

Application: plate mill, finishing stand of hot strip mill

Description: These rolls are spun cast with a working layer which consists of a very highly alloyed white iron with no free graphite in the structure. The refined iron and Cr carbides give excellent wear resistance to this material.

High Speed Steel (HSS) Rolls

Application: plate mill, finishing stand of hot strip mill

Description: These rolls are spun cast with a working layer which consists of uniformly distributed complex carbides of vanadium, tungsten, niobium and molybdenum in the martensitic matrix ensures the uniform hardness of the working layer. HSS rolls have high hardness and good wear resistance at high temperatures.

Hyper-eutectoid (Adamite) Steel Roll

Applications: medium and heavy sections mills, roughing stands of hot strip mill

Manufacturing process: static casting

Description: These rolls are special hyper-eutectoid steel rolls alloyed with nickel, chromium and molybdenum. The extra carbon and special alloys give extra wear resistance and strength.
These rolls are statically cast and undergo a special high temperature heat treatment process of double annealing followed by tempering cycles to give a microstructure consisting of a fine pearlitic matrix with spherodised / broken carbide.

Nodular Cast Iron (Ferritic, Pearlitic, Bainitic and Acicular) Rolls

Application: bar and rod mills, light and medium section mills, narrow-strip mills, seamless tube mills

Description: Nodular irons belong to a group of cast iron in which most of the carbon crystallises as spherical particles known as graphite nodules. A wide range of properties may be obtained by adjusting the three major alloying elements: Cr, Ni, and Mo. The low nickel grade (ferritic grade) provides optimal hardness with high strength and toughness. The medium nickel grade (pearlitic iron) has higher surface hardness necessary for intermediate and finishing. The high nickel and molybdenum grade (bainitic/acicular iron) provide excellent mechanical properties at a high working temperature in terms of strength, toughness and hardness.

High Chromium Cast Iron (HiCr) Rings

Application: heavy-section and rail mill

Description: Chromium with nickel and molybdenum results in a high level of hardenability and wear resistance. High chrome iron sleeves are heat-treated to produce discontinuous, highly wear-resistant iron/chromium carbides in a matrix which can be varied from spheroidal pearlite through to high hardness martensite according to the requirements of the application. The high hardenability enables the hardness to be made virtually consistent across any section.
